Head Coach Taranee Moving On....
We regretfully announce that our beloved Teacher T will be moving on this fall to pursue her schooling out East.  Taranee Ponjani, "Teacher T" has been  a dedicated coach at the Britannia Gymnastics Club for the last 5 years.  Her thoughtful and caring personality has made her a favorite amongst the young athletes in our program.  T's strong leadership and administration skills, ability to show initiative and passion for gymnastics on the Eastside have been cherished and will be sorely missed at Britannia! Best wishes Taranee in working towards your degree in Kinesiology in TO!

Cartwheels & Candycanes Show and Cam's Party
A huge success!
Family and friends enjoyed watching our young gymnasts show off what they learned during the fall session. A special visit from Santa, concession, prizes, Airplane Toss were all part of the fun! Even Olaf and Elsa showed up to join in on the fun!   The event was topped off with an emotional finale where all the children and parents sang their own version of the Sound of Music's "So Long, Farewell" to departing Head Coach, "Teacher Cameron."

Head Coach Cameron Stevenson Moving On….
It is with a heavy heart that the Britannia Gymnastics Club is announcing that our fabulous Head Coach Cameron Stevenson has decided to move on to new gymnastics adventures out East, then onto  Australia.  He will not be back for the January 2016 session.
In the 9 years Cameron has been with Britannia, he developed and molded the program into what it is today – a very popular, well respected community recreational gymnastics club that offers “real” gymnastics to children on the Eastside.  Since Cam’s arrival he more than quadrupled the size of the club.  In 2014, Cam was named Gymnastics BC's Coach of the Year.  His crowning achievements at Britannia included being the visionary and creative driving force behind the club’s successful bid to host the 2014 BC Gymnaestrada, the largest recreational gymnastics event in BC.  A Gymnastics BC survey feedback stated it was “One of the best BC Gymnaestrada’s yet!”  Cam then followed this up by providing Britannia athletes a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform on a worldwide stage at the 2015 World Gymnaestrada in Helsinki, Finland representing Canada this past summer in association with Bowen Island Gymnastics.  But it will be Cam’s special gifts as a person which will be truly missed by the Britannia Community.  His week to week ability to temper a rambunctious group of 3-4 year olds to hang on his every word and his ability to challenge and give so much of his energy and expertise to each and every individual child he coached will truly be missed. His admirable work ethic, caring personality and vast knowledge of gymnastics will truly be missed. The Britannia Gymnastics Club was so fortunate and blessed to have Cam lead and direct the club over the past 9 years.
Plans for a "going away" gathering in honor of Cam immediately following the Cartwheels & Candycanes Holiday Show on Sunday, December 13 will be announced soon.  We know you will find success and we wish you all the very best in Australia, Cameron!

Support our Community Initiative!
There is a strong demand for gymnastics in East Vancouver which cannot be met with the current facilities.  The Britannia Gymnastics programs were filled to capacity within 3 minutes this fall with a large number of families on the waiting list.  We believe our neighborhood families should be able to meet their educational and recreational needs within their own community. The City of Vancouver has approved funding for the renewal of Britannia Community Centre facilities in the 2014-2018 Capital Plan.We believe the inclusion of a gymnastics/multi-sport facility is vital for the Britannia Community and should be included in the first phase of the Britannia Community Centre’s facility renewal. Such a facility would have an extremely positive impact on our community.
